INTENTIONS

Pengertian dan kata kunci untuk expressing intention
Sebagaiamana kita sampaikan diatas bahwa INTENTION ini adalah MAKSUD HATI yang meliputi, plan, dan purpose. Setelah mengetahui pengertiannya, tahap selajutnya adalah apa kata kata kunci (Main Expression) untuk dialog mengungkapkan intention.

Tata Cara Asking Intention
Ungkapan bahasa Inggris diatas biasanya diawali dengan pertanyaan seperti dibwah ini:

What are you going to do?
Any plan for the weekend?
Are you thinking of…?
Do you have any intention of…?
Is it your intention to…?

Rumus menyusun kalimat untuk expressing intention
Setelah mengetahui beberapa ungkapan dan frase yang biasa digunakan untuk mengungkapkan intention, selanjutnya kita akan belajar merangkai kata perkata menjadi kalimat bahasa Inggris yang baik dengan mengikuti pola rumus-rumus sebagai berikut:

Subject + Would Like + VI + O
Subject + will + VI + O
Subject + is/am/are going to  + VI + O
Subject + Would Rather + VI + O

Disamping rumus utama seperti diatas, ungkapan dialog dan percakapan bahasa Inggris juga bisa disusun dengan kata utama WILL dan BE GOING TO dengan rumus sebagai beriktu:
To express willingness: use will
(+) Subject + will + V1 + Object/Complement
(-)  Subject + will not + V1 + Object/Complement
(?) Will + subject + V1 + Object/complement

(+) She will visit her cousins on the next holiday.
(-) She will not visit her cousins on the next holiday.
(?) Will she visit her cousins on the next holiday?

To express a prior plan: Use only be going to
(+) Subject + Be going to + V1 + O/C
(-) Subject + Be not going to + V1 + O/C
(?) Be + Subject + going to + V1 + O/C

(+) She is going to visit her cousins on the next holiday.
(-) She is not going to visit her cousins on the next holiday?
(?) Is she going to visit her cousins on the next holiday?

Contoh Percakapan Intention :

Fera     : Hy Elvi!
Elvi      : Hy Fera!
Fera     : Do you already have any plan for this holiday?
Elvi      : Not really. How about you?
Fera     : I am planning to spend my holiday at my hometown.
Elvi      : Your hometown? Where is it?
Fera     : Lampung. I missed my hometown so much. It has been a year since the last time I visited my hometown.
